We crossed the border into Alaska on the Top Of The World/Taylor Highway between Dawson City, Yukon and Chicken, Alaska. It was about 9:30 AM Alaska time, (10:30 Canadian) on Sunday, August 14th; sixteen days and 2,543 miles after leaving home.
Having been to Alaska twice by air, we decided it was time for the ultimate adventure of driving the Alaska Highway. Our route took us through British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon. The return trip included traveling the Inside Passage on the Alaska Marine Highway. If you have always wanted to make this trip I hope our story will inspire you to stop dreaming, buy a copy of The Milepost, and start driving.
